Berlin Elementary School is currently home to 218 students in preschool through sixth grade. With an average class size of between 16 and 18 students in each of 9 multi-age classrooms (plus two kindergarten classes and three preschool sessions), Berlin Elementary School is a great place for both academic and social learning in an individualized environment.
Centrally located near the Berlin Four Corners, our school’s 2012-2013 goals include an ongoing focus on the foundational skills of literacy and mathematics, in addition to fostering a respectful climate.
In addition to the main building, our campus includes two sports fields and a spacious playground. Our gymnasium boasts a rock climbing wall for the adventurers among us and most of our classrooms and library (also called the Learning Center) include Smart Boards, ceiling mounted LCD projectors and other interactive technology resources. Our four 20-computer mobile laptop labs are used throughout the building and a 17-station desktop lab serves our Learning Center.
Berlin’s dedicated and highly qualified staff includes reading and math specialists, two special educators, a speech pathologist, energetic and creative classroom teachers and support staff members who are committed to seeing children succeed. Our breakfast and lunch programs are focused on providing nutritious, appealing meals made from ingredients sourced as locally as possible. We offer visual arts, music, physical education, Spanish and Library skills to all K-6 students as individual classes. As a Responsive Classroom school, we value both social and academic learning.
