Sarah Rogers and Amber Dessureau are the Kindergarten Teachers. They work together to create inviting child centered environments that are very similar to each other.
Little stuff that makes a big difference for 5 year olds
There are so many little details that Kindergarten families need to know about making your child's year the very best that it can be. Some of the things that are most important to children may seem minute to adults so parents should know that there is always help available by asking your child's teachers. Mrs. Rogers and Mrs. Dessureau are always eager to help... please just ask us!!! We have tried to list some of that "little stuff" below.
- Snacks- We have a snack every day in both the morning and afternoon sessions of Kindergarten. We encourage healthy snacks and at the morning snack provide milk for $.40 a day.
- Shoes- Please have your child wear shoes that are practical and safe. Sneakers that tie are the best shoes you can send your child to school in, they provide good traction and an opportunity to learn to tie. If you want your child to wear pretty shoes or sandals please think about safety and comfort first.
- Clothing- Again we ask you to send your child in clothes that allow movement and comfort. It's fun to dress up for special occasions but in general comfort is most important. There are occasionally concerns about what I will refer to as the "Brittany Spears effect", please discourage your child from wearing clothing that may be inappropriate for our young children. We try to go outside whenever the weather permits so please send layers to accommodate our ever changing weather conditions.
