BERLIN ELEMENTARY KITCHEN PROGRAM

The school breakfast and lunch program is available each school day. The prices are as follows:

Lunch: $2.50          Adult hot lunch: $ 3.50

Breakfast: $1.50     Adult Breakfast : $ 2.50

Milk: 50Cents

Monthly menus for lunch are published in the newsletter and the website. We seek to serve wholesome, appealing and well-balanced meals that limit salt, sugar and fat intake. Breakfast menus rotate choices such as cold cereal, hot cereal, eggs, bagels, pancakes, or waffles, etc.

Parents are welcome to send in cold lunch and purchase milk for their child if they wish. If snacks are sent in to school, we encourage parents to provide healthy snacks such as fruits, crackers and cheese, etc. Candy and soft drinks are not allowed for snack.

The lunch program is operated on a prepaid basis. Please send in payments in an envelope that clearly indicates for which child the payment is made, teacher’s name and the amount of money enclosed. Please always pay ahead. Statements will be sent home every two weeks. If more than $25.00 is owed, a phone call will be made home to reconcile the bill. 

Foodservice Program staff includes Nathalie Cameron, Foodservice Agent, and Deb Anderson, Foodservice Assistant.

Many students are eligible for free or reduced-price meals. A form will be sent home with your child on the first day of school that determines eligibility. Additional information is sent out during the first week of school.

We ask all families to complete and return the form, even if you don’t believe you are eligible.  

A child that qualifies for the program must take at least 2 items from the breakfast menu, and 3 items from the lunch menu.  If the Child does not take the minimum requirement from the program, the account will be charged as an “A LA CARTE” item.  If you do not want allow your child to charge, please send us a note.
